Favorite products blog hop

Breeches & Boat Shoes adapted SmartPak’s vlog hop and it’s been so fun to read about everyone’s favorite products! I love any chance to talk about my shamefully large collection of horse stuff, so this is a perfect topic for me.

What is your favorite equestrian-specific product that you use when you’re at the barn?

This is super tough, because I have an obscene number of equestrian-specific products. I’d probably have to go with my Schockemoehle Champion dressage pad. It’s cushy, moisture-wicking, and very stylish. I use it for every day schooling, clinics, and schooling shows and always get a lot of compliments on it. I’m also a big fan of Lucky Braids whitener/dry wash spray. This stuff is a lifesaver for Gina’s white socks. Spray it on, wait a few minutes, then wipe it off- it’s simple and effective!

What is your favorite non equestrian-specific product to use when you’re at the barn?

Listerine! You can’t beat it for removing dandruff from your horse’s mane and tail. I like to spray it into the base of the mane and tail, leave it for a few minutes, and rinse. You can also use it to remove dirt and dander from your horse’s body.

What is your horse’s favorite equestrian-specific product to wear or use?

Do treats count as something my horses use? If so, Moe and Gina are big fans of Paddock Cakes. If not, both horses enjoy the soothing smells of The Herbal Horse’s Be Calm salve. (Moe especially enjoys licking it straight out of the tin…)

What was the best equestrian-related gift you were ever given, and why does it mean so much to you?

Both of my saddles were gifts! My mom bought me the Ainsley Cross Country Pro National as a birthday gift. Johnny bought me the King’s Sandringham dressage saddle as an engagement present. I was thrilled to receive both gifts because both givers understood that I’d appreciate something practical and horsey.

If you had the ability to create any product or anything to make your time at the barn better, what would that be?

I’d create some kind of auto-hitching trailer! I hate getting the truck backed up and it’s just off enough that the trailer won’t pop onto the ball. I always end up in this 10 minute long back-up-get-out-of-truck-to-check-pull-forward-back-up loop that’s no fun at 5:30 AM.
