Friday Five

This week has flown by, and I am soooo glad to finally have a free weekend. There’s a lot of house cleaning, yard work, and cooking planned, which is a relief after weeks and weeks of super-jammed weekends!

Here’s what’s on my radar this week.

ONE Euro-Star’s spring/summer 2016 collection

I have kind of a thing for Euro-Star anyway- they always have fun colors and patterns. But next season’s lines, y’all…These Laura Infinity breeches are maybe the most perfect thing I’ve ever seen.

TWO Serial

This podcast from the creators of This American Life is absolutely fascinating. Through a dozen episodes, it tells the true story of the murder of high school senior Hae Min Lee. Her ex-boyfriend Adnan Syed was convicted of her murder, but there are plot holes and questionable witnesses and evidence. I totally binge-listened to this while editing photos at work this week and now can’t stop looking up theories about the case!

THREE The Bua saddle

This is an intriguing idea; the modular tree seems like a good idea, although I’d be curious to see just how easy it is to take it apart and put it back together. And how easily it could be put together incorrectly. I’m glad to see the equestrian world innovate and adapt high-tech engineering and science from other fields, though. And don’t even get me started on how much I like the colors!

FOUR US Pony Finals on USEF Network

Adorable ponies jumping their little pony hearts out? And sometimes they’re very naughty adorable ponies. Guess what’s been on my second monitor all week long?

There are a couple of great OTTB organizations in Oklahoma, and another has just been added! CANTER, which is sort of a big deal, now has a Heartland chapter that includes Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa, and Arkansas. Great, now I have another place on the interwebz to drool over good looking Thoroughbreds…

  1. I’m very curious about the Bua Saddles too! I’d love if they made a non-monoflap version for the jumper ring. But hey, if it would fit my mare, I’d probably just rock the monoflap. 🙂

  2. I keep hearing amazing things about Serial! I’m totally going to listen to it right this second.

Those Boa saddles are so weird, I feel like an old person rejecting technology though. I’m curious to see if they catch on.

    1. Yes, go listen to it, and then come back to discuss conspiracy theories!

I totally get the “I am old and reject this newfangled technology” feeling. My initial reaction to that video was “NOPE DON’T LIKE IT” until I forced myself to think about it.

  3. I’m looking forward to the trials and reviews of the Bua saddle. It definitely looks interesting.

Ha, I have watched a little bit of the Pony Finals this week, because my pony owning adult self can’t help but watch anything with ponies.
