Whew, I’m awfully glad it’s Friday! I’m looking forward to hunting tomorrow and unpacking more boxes on Sunday (I swear they’re breeding out in the shed). Here’s what’s been on my radar this week:
I use Goodreads to log my reading challenges, but I’ve always been bummed that there wasn’t a great way to track books you’ve read more than once. After two years of reading only new-to-me books, I’m allowing myself to return to the “comfort foods” of my bookshelf: Mercedes Lackey’s early Valdemar novels, Anne McCaffrey’s Pern novels, and Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series. I’m excited that these rereads will “officially” count toward my Goodreads annual reading challenge!
One of RTJ’s three albums is always in our living room CD player; their music is stellar, and they’re an amazing act to see live. El-P and Killer Mike stopped by NPR’s studio as part of the NPR Tiny Desk Concert series- you should absolutely check it out! Lately, I’ve been working my way through the various cookbooks I own. I grab one at random, leaf through it to find recipes to make each weeknight, and cook accordingly. This week, I’ve been using Robb Walsh’s Tex-Mex cookbook. It’s an interesting book that includes information on the history and evolution of Tex-Mex cuisine in addition to solid recipes for favorites like enchiladas, tacos, and tamales.
Shetland ponies on a boat. Shetland ponies wearing sweaters. Shetland ponies carrying baskets. CUTE OVERLOAD.
In recent “WTF Oklahoma” news (it’s constant), an upcoming Valentine’s Day dance was shut down because of a city ordinance which prohibits dancing within 500 feet of a church. Sigh.
What are y’all up to this weekend?
