I’m excited for the weekend, y’all- Moe and I are headed to our first combined test of the year and are dragging along my neighbor and the cutest pony ever! I’m looking forward to having a pleasant, fun show with my favorite horse.
Here’s what’s on my radar this week:
ONE Planet Earth II
Planet Earth is one of a handful of DVDs I own, and is part of an even rarer group of DVDs I will re-watch. (I’m not much of a TV/movie watcher.) I’m definitely excited for Planet Earth II- now in extra high def!
TWO Rider calls for bitless bridles to be allowed in dressage
A British rider is urging British Dressage to reevaluate their policy on bitless bridles, which are not permitted in BD competition. The bitless debate is a hot one in the dressage community; personally, I think the bit is a fundamental part of the sport and as such, bitless bridles shouldn’t be allowed.
THREE Lauren Reischer’s TEDxDaltonSchool Talk

As most of you know, I spent three years working at a therapeutic riding center and am a PATH-certified therapeutic riding instructor. Therapeutic riding is something near and dear to me. Lauren Reischer’s TEDx Talk is a firsthand account of how riding helped her overcome some of the physical challenges associated with cerebral palsy, as well as how it helped her mental health.
FOUR Cooking with Loula: Greek Recipes from My Family to Yours
I’ve been searching for a good Greek cookbook for a while, and I think I’ve found it. This book covers all the basics you’d expect- dolmades, spanakopita, baklava- and organizes them in what I find to be a super logical way (weekday meals, weekend meals, holiday meals).
FIVE This week in “Really, Oklahoma?”
Last week, Oklahoma was preventing a Valentine’s Day dance from taking place. This week, a couple of residents are doing a very Oklahoma thing: going to a concert at a casino, then going to Sonic, then getting arrested for indecent exposure. Sigh.
What have y’all been checking out this week? What are you up to this weekend?
I heard about the Planet Earth DVD on NPR this morning! What exactly is ultra high def?? I hope no one ever videos me in ultra high def…
I don’t know WHAT ultra high-def means! I was pretty impressed with regular high def.
Also, same. Please never film me in any kind of high def. Regular definition all the way over here.
THERE’S A PLANET EARTH II!??!!?!??!!?!?!? YOU JUST MADE MY DAY!!!!
I am kinda loving your “Really, Oklahoma?” Entries lol
I hope the show went well!!
Is #2 what started this whole thing over the weekend? Things get clearer and clearer
