Friday Five

I’m wrapping up a very busy week at work (and at home)! I’m scrambling to get things in order before I leave town; here’s what’s on my radar this week.

ONE Dressage at Devon

I’m headed back to Devon, PA on Sunday to help the east coast mobile unit with Dressage At Devon! I last went in 2016, and I met Alli of Pony’Tude, Austen of Guinness on Tap, and Emma of ‘Fraidy Cat Eventing. Devon is a really fun, really busy show! If you’re in the area, please come by and say hello! I have something like 25 tickets for the show, so you don’t even have to pay to get in.

TWO USDF Region 9 Championships

My flight home from Devon lands in Tulsa at 11 PM on Monday night. I’ll meet up with a coworker at 8 AM Tuesday to drive down to Region 9 Championships in the Houston, Texas area. I’d love to see some of the Texas blogger contingent.

THREE Alcohol modernization in Oklahoma

In 2016, Oklahoma voters passed a state question that modernized the state’s draconian alcohol laws. Starting October 1, regular-strength beer (beer with an ABV greater than 3.2%) will be available cold in grocery and convenience stores. Wine will be permitted for sale in grocery stores, too! And liquor stores will be able to carry non-alcohol items like club soda! I’m SUPER excited that I won’t have to make an extra stop for a bottle of wine during a grocery run!

FOUR Foxhunting season

Hunting season is nearly upon us, and I couldn’t be more excited! Gina is looking great; pulling her mane and trimming her hooves took at least ten years off her feral broodmare appearance! She’s steadily gaining weight and muscle. Once I’m back from all this work travel, I’ll really get some conditioning work for the season underway.

FIVE Gathering Place

An enormous new park just opened along Tulsa’s riverfront. I’m planning to visit when my mom is here for her annual visit (the week I return from Houston), and I’m so excited! There acres of trails, paddleboats and kayaks available for rent, beautiful gardens, and even hip restaurants.

What are y’all up to?

  1. Busy is an understatement! That’s exciting about your new liquor laws. CT’s are pretty weird too. The only alcoholic beverage allowed at grocery stores is beer or similar malt beverages (like Mike’s). No wine. And they put tarps over it after 10pm. Recently they started allowing alcohol sales on Sundays though, so that was nice.
Can’t wait to see some Gina pictures! Glad she’s doing well.
