This weekend, y’all. Ugh.
I spent Saturday managing a schooling dressage show, which was much more difficult than I thought it would be. This show was originally rescheduled from April due to rain; we nearly had to reschedule again! The farm where we’d planned to have the show got 13 inches of rain and was pumping water out of the barn as late as Wednesday. Happily, we were able to change venues on short notice without any major problems. Entries were low, probably because of the holiday and the weather, but everyone seemed to have a good time.
Johnny and I were planning to go to a late-night movie Saturday night, so we headed into Tulsa to get dinner beforehand. The skies opened up to a torrential downpour; as we were driving to the theater, we saw several areas of high water on the roads and stalled vehicles. We nixed movie plans and drove home instead!

We ended up getting about 7 inches of rain. Before this month, the entire of state of Oklahoma was in a drought. Currently, half the state is no longer in a drought. Success!
I spent Sunday jogging a whole entire mile without walking, which is an enormous accomplishment for me. I don’t like jogging, I don’t feel like I’m good at it, and I usually take lots of walk breaks. But somehow, jogging a whole mile without stopping felt like something I should do. And now I know I have the mental fortitude to force myself to do uncomfortable tasks. Yay?
Yesterday, it finally stopped raining long enough for me to meet Holly and our mutual friend Jeanie at the barn for a ride in the not-flooded indoor arena. I test rode a saddle from work (which was amazing), Jeanie rode Moe, and I had a really nice ride on Gina. I also got to hop on Holly’s horse Roscoe; he’s a lot of work!

It started raining again around the time I got home from the barn, and there’s a chance for rain every day this week. Barf.
How did y’all spend your long weekend? Are my Texas friends kayaking to the barn?
I spent the weekend in my sweatpants watching the rain! It was a good weekend for netflix, popcorn, and being lazy!
